Today we had a year two visitor.  He brought some Celtic artifacts to show us – two coins, a brooch and a clothes pin.  It was amazing to hold items which were 2000 years old.

A BIG thank you for all the lovely gifts! It was very kind of you all.

The children have been learning about the Christmas story and how Christians believe that Jesus is ‘the light of the world’.  They have each made a Christingle.  Each part of the orange has its own symbolic meaning.

The orange itself represents the world.

The red tape around the orange symbolises that Jesus died.

The four cocktail sticks are the four seasons of the year.

The sweets represent the fruits of the earth.

 The white candle, which is placed in the top of the orange, represents Jesus, the light of the world that shines over everything.

We also designed a pair of fashionable sunglasses and discussed the reasons why we wear sunglasses for our science topic.
